Premium unboxing. Triple compliance. Automated.
Packaging EPR, WEEE overlap, battery obligations: gadget brands face a compliance maze. Pack Declare handles packaging — 8 EU countries, LUCID + CITEO + ECOEMBES + 5 more — and integrates with WEEE/battery specialists so everything flows through one dashboard.
What makes this sector different
Triple compliance: packaging + WEEE + batteries
Electronics selling to EU triggers three parallel regulations. Most tools only cover one. You need coordinated tracking or three separate invoices.
Premium unboxing conflicts with 2030 void-space rules
Brand unboxing often uses oversized boxes + EPE foam + branded tissue. PPWR 2030 bans >40% empty space in e-commerce shipments. You need to size the change now.
LUCID is mandatory for Germany — and strict
Germany's LUCID register is quarterly, requires a dual-system contract, and enforces it. Missing a submission triggers automatic delisting on Amazon.de.
Non-EU origin triggers Authorised Representative obligation
Most gadget brands manufacture in APAC. Selling into EU as a non-EU entity requires appointing an Authorised Representative per country — another cost most brands discover late.
Amazon FBA muddies the 'who places on market' question
When Amazon fulfils from local warehouses, the EPR obligation may shift. You need a tool that handles the ambiguity with clear audit trails.
Why Pack Declare fits
Shopify + Amazon + WooCommerce connectors
Gadget brands live on all three at once. Pack Declare is the only EPR tool with native connectors for each, so your entire sales volume is counted — no CSV gymnastics.
Foam, cardboard, plastic, manuals — all categorised
EPE, PE foam, corrugated, chipboard, plastic inserts, paper manuals. Every component type has a code and rate across all 8 EU PROs.
Integrates with WEEE + battery providers (not replaces)
Pack Declare handles packaging EPR. For WEEE and batteries, we partner with Deutsche Recycling, Eldris, and others. One central dashboard; three regulations covered.
Empty-space ratio tracking — 2030 ready
Measure volume-to-content ratio per order. See which products are the worst offenders. Iterate packaging; track savings. Year-over-year comparison built in.
ECOEMBES, LUCID, CITEO, CONAI — exact formats
LUCID especially is strict about column order and field encoding. Pack Declare generates it byte-perfect. Upload and you're done.
Audit-grade ledger — every component traced
Electronics audits are frequent and detailed. Every gram of packaging in your declaration traces back to specific Shopify/Amazon orders with immutable BOM snapshots.
Frequently asked
Do you handle WEEE (electronics) and batteries EPR?
Not directly — Pack Declare is packaging-focused. For WEEE and batteries we partner with services like Deutsche Recycling and Eldris who handle the paperwork; we integrate with their systems so your data flows through cleanly. This gives you packaging covered in-house (€199/month) and WEEE/batteries through specialist partners — rather than one general-purpose tool that's mediocre at all three.
We ship from Asia. Do we need an Authorised Representative?
Yes. Non-EU sellers must appoint an Authorised Representative per EU country where they sell. Pack Declare doesn't provide AR services (decision: pure SaaS, no human services), but our compliance profile stores AR contact details per country and references them in your declarations. Services like Eldris offer fixed-price AR for ~€195/country/year.
How does Pack Declare handle Amazon FBA vs FBM differences?
You connect both Amazon SP-API endpoints. Orders tagged as FBA shipped from an EU fulfilment centre may shift the EPR obligation to Amazon; Pack Declare surfaces this distinction so you can exclude FBA-shipped orders from your declarations where appropriate. See our Amazon FBA EPR exclusion feature (T-38).
Premium unboxing is part of our brand. How do we handle the 40% empty-space rule?
We track volume-to-product ratio per order automatically. You can identify which SKUs trigger the >40% issue and iterate packaging surgically rather than blunt-force downsizing. Many brands find 10-15% empty-space reductions with zero brand impact once they see the data.
What about GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation)?
GPSR is product safety, not packaging. Pack Declare focuses on packaging EPR/PPWR. We support GPSR-adjacent data (importer identification, batch numbers) in our BOM fields, but GPSR itself is a separate compliance track. Tools like EaseCert specialise in GPSR — we don't compete with them.
